Inspired by an antique damask design, Karen was busy adapting her working
drawings for this quilt when she heard the news of the terrorist attacks
on September 11, 2001. "As I continued, my color plan became brighter,"
she says. "My quilt expresses my hope for a brighter future for
all of us." All of the applique was completed by hand, and she
finished the piece with machine quilting.
Bright Hopes appeared on the November 2002 cover of Quilter's
Newsletter Magazine.
